This short work for solo violin is called Anaphora which means a phrase repeated (from the Greek, literally, ‘referring back’ or ‘carrying up’). It is also the name given to the middle section of the Mass which begins with the Sanctus and the plainchant, derived from the Vatican Sanctus (Beneventanum Troporum Corpus II), provides the basis for Anaphora – which means a phrase repeated.
