On 5 November Ensemble Tityre gave a performance devoted entirely to British music with an emphasis on women composers. This charity concert was in aid of ‘Care4BrittleBones’ and was supported by two Hamburg-based societies, Friends of Britain and Lions Club. The concert featured several works by Cecilia McDowall and each work throughout the concert was introduced with great panache by Katja Geist. The concert took place to a capacity audience responding with great warmth to all things British. The performers were Annette Hermeling, flute | Arne Grützmacher, oboe | Bettina Pfeiffer, piano | Katja Geist, narrator | Stefanie Niessen, soprano. The concert took place in the large Kleine Saal in the fantastic new Hamburg concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie.
