To mark International Women’s Day 2020, BBC Radio 3 has commissioned seven very different composers to write a movement each of an a cappella choral work entitled Seven Ages of Woman. Cecilia McDowall Photo 51 ~ a tribute to Rosalind Franklin, chemist and crystallographer, in her centenary year. Her X-ray of the Double Helix (Photo 51) was the pre-curser to Crick and Watson’s identification of the molecular structure of DNA.
