Paul Byrne, director
Natalie Clein, cello soloist
The concert opens with Cecilia McDowall’s “Rain, Steam and Speed,” a dynamic and thrilling piece inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s famous painting of the same name. The music perfectly captures the energy and movement of the painting, making for an exhilarating start to the evening. International soloist Natalie Clein takes the stage for Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1, a much loved showpiece in the cello repertoire.
