Cecilia McDowall: Da Vinci Requiem
KCS opens its 2023-4 season with a feast of superb British music. We continue our exploration of the gorgeous works of George Dyson with Hierusalem; its gentle lyricism contracts with the energy of Britten‘s early Te Deum (first performed in the same church) and Grace William‘s plangent Elegy for Strings. The climax of our programme is provided by Cecilia McDowall‘s wonderful Da Vinci Requiem, written in 2019 to mark the quincentenary of the artist’s death.
